If you make a list of your top 10 comedians of all time, chances are most of them will be participating in NBC’s Feeding America Comedy Festival next week.
Thanks to Byron Allen’s Media Group and Funny Or Die the two-hour comedy bonanza will raise funds for the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, Feeding America. The production will be mounted virtually, of course, with many performers submitted pre-taped segments.
The star-studded roster of talent is said to include some of the biggest names in comedywith appearances by Eddie Murphy, Tiffany Haddish, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Kenan Thompson, Marlon Wayans, Adam Sandler, Jack Black, Wayne Brady, Cedric the Entertainer, Margaret Cho, Deon Cole, Billy Crystal, Whitney Cummings, Tommy Davidson, Mike Epps, Whoopi Goldberg, Taraji P. Henson, Keegan-Michael Key, George Lopez, JB Smoove, and Sheryl Underwood just to name a few, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Laughter is often the best medicine, and we are extremely motivated to bring attention to issues of food insecurity, and to assist in providing meals to families across the country who are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Allen CEO of Entertainment Studios and Allen Media Group, in a statement to the outlet on Thursday.
Viewers will be encouraged to contribute to Feeding America to support those who have been impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic while tuning into the live stream.
The Feeding America Comedy Festival will air on Sunday, May 10 on NBC, Comedy.TV and The Weather Channel from 7 to 9 p.m. ET/PT.. It can also be seen on the free streaming app, Local Now.
